The Role

An Assistant Site Manager is required on the Middlewood Locks project to assist in managing the project team in its delivery of a first-class project namely safety, quality, time and cost.

The role will require a dynamic and passionate individual who continually delivers above and beyond client expectations, forges long term relationships that result in repeat business and promotes the business externally.


With a flexible approach to supporting all BCEGI activities, preferably but not limited to:

  • Lead elements of the project team and manage the supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost and quality targets and standards
  • Regularly review short term programmes in line with the overall project programme to ensure completion on time, and ensure that project plans and schedules are robust and optimise project resources and timescales, and are communicated effectively to the project team
  • Understand the relevant Contract terms and conditions for each project
  • Be responsible for people management on elements of the project
  • Ensure that Company procedures and policies are followed
  • Ensure that the Safety and Environmental Management Systems is adhered to on site and to personally set the standard of zero tolerance of unsafe practices and occurrences
  • Carry out safety inspections and ensure management of safe site access and egress routes, creating an environment for the works to be completed in a safe and efficient manner
  • Hands on supervision of resources to ensure effective delivery of the project in respect of safety, environment, quality, programme and finances in accordance with Construction Management Plan
  • Assist in assessing the progress and productivity and implement action for improvement
  • To focus on the elimination of waste within all areas
  • Ensure that all operatives are fully trained and competent to undertake the role and task allocated to them
  • To ensure that all site staff, operatives and visitors are suitably inducted, trained and certified prior to starting work on site
  • Ensure that the site remains tidy at all times and maintains the company brand and image
  • To verify work is being carried out in a way that is compliant with latest design drawings and specification
  • Ensure all on site personnel adhere to the site rules and PPE requirements
  • Ensure all materials are stored in allocated areas to ensure that they are distributed efficiently
  • Ensure all plant on site is fit for use and well maintained
  • Assist in maintaining adequate records of all on site personnel and activities
  • Help to develop best practice and innovative methods of construction
  • To provide regular feedback of production to the Project / Site manager
  • Undertake daily task briefings and toolbox talks as necessary
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as are required by the business

  • Knowledge of current H&S regulations/legislation
  • CSCS registered
  • First Aid (Preferred)
  • SMSTS (Preferred)
  • Managing subcontractor’s various trades
  • Maintain accurate records/diaries etc
  • Monitor and maintain outputs in line with programmes
  • Work within a large, ability to maintain good working relationships
