The Role

BCEGI UK has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our expanding business in the Northwest.

Duties/responsibilities:

With a flexible approach to supporting all BCEGI activities, preferably but not limited to:

  • Provision of guidance and advice on valuation of work in progress and future projections
  • The flexible deployment of staff to provide an effective commercial service for the business
  • The recruitment, training, development, reviewing and retention of staff
  • Identifying and communicating development and training needs of staff
  • Providing staff with support and guidance on their job responsibilities
  • Negotiating with client’s representatives, sub-contractors and other consultants
  • Advise on contractual implications of intended courses of action
  • Provide contractual and commercial support to work winning
  • Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects
  • Preparation of monthly contract review reports
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts information
  • Preparation of contractual and commercial input into Project Business Plan
  • Establish from Contract award the project “budget to build”
  • Identify change and implement change control process and agreement
  • Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement
  • Adopt appropriate measures for management of risk
  • Form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for project delivery and client service
  • Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise and which could affect the business/project

  Requirements:

  • At least 10 years surveying experience and 2 years' commercial management experience in construction
  • Relevant degree, professional qualifications or Chartership
  • Have significant experience in managing projects within a joint venture/delivery environment and able to manage multiple, potentially competing stakeholders with integrity and clarity
  • Have had exposure to commercials deals and experience of influencing and managing within complex JV arrangements and relationships
  • Apply commercial and strategic thinking to everything that you undertake and the ability to shape and influence corporate policy
  • Experience of producing high-quality bid documents, with a knowledge and understanding of the bid process from pre-tender (PQQ) through to tendering and construction
  • The ability to develop strong personal relationships with clients/consultants and staff, with a proven track record of management, support and mentoring staff, in the achievement of excellence
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels
  • The ability to work cross-functionally, with a collaborative and dynamic approach
  • Ensure the appropriate allocation of resource
  • New build experience over £25m
  • In-depth knowledge of JCT suite of contracts
  • Have experience managing/shaping and developing high performing organisations
  • CSCS card required
  • Member of relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification is desirable, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA, but not essential
  • Good working knowledge of Housing Grants Construction & Regeneration Act 1996 will be an advantage
