The Role
BCEGI UK has an exciting opportunity for a Development Manager to join our expanding team in Manchester.
The Development Manager will be responsible for multiple development opportunities across the northwest, working to progress concept into reality.
Duties/responsibilities:
As a Development Manager, you will support all BCEGI activities, preferably, but not limited to:
- Encompass all phases of the development lifecycle;
- Identify, explore and analyse development opportunities;
- Negotiate with Developers/Partners/Agents in securing new opportunities, ensuring management of relationships;
- Lead public consultations on developments; gaining support, managing stakeholder relationships and community engagement;
- Prepare appraisals for development/investment, taking account of GDV, build costs, fees and profit targets;
- Perform in-depth financial analysis to ensure rigorous investment assessment at all stages;
- Lead planning applications throughout the planning process, work with the team internally/externally, and secure consent within the budget and programme;
- Oversee the procurement process; working with the team internally to select, appoint and manage external consultants/contractors, ensuring control of all financial aspects;
- Produce leasing and marketing strategies for the projects;
- Ensure successful delivery of the project, creating and implementing a range of strategies to successfully deliver the project;
- Reflect the values of our business internally/externally.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years relevant experience as a Development Manager/comparable role
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Project Management or Surveying
- Professional membership of appropriate level (MRICS/MCIOB)
- Substantial and proven experience of leading and managing large scale, complex development schemes
- Substantial negotiation skills
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels
- Proven capacity to work in a challenging and complex political environment
- Demonstrates the ability and confidence to manage and present to high profile and challenging internal/external audiences
- Highly flexible and professional approach with the ability to act diplomatically where required
- Focused on delivery to agreed objectives and standards
- Able to work well under pressure
- Sound financial knowledge and commercial character
- CSCS (desirable)
