The Role

BCEGI UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding business in Liverpool.

Duties/responsibilities:

With a flexible approach to supporting all BCEGI activities, preferably but not limited to:

Work Winning:

  • Supporting work winning teams, where required, in identifying and quantifying risk and opportunity in bids and tenders
  • Supporting, and where necessary, leading key negotiations with prospective customers, partners, contractors and sub-contractors

Contract Delivery:

  • Ensuring effective cash management
  • Maintaining risk management processes and procedures, including acting as liaison for internal audit activities
  • Ensuring contractual imperatives (duties, obligations, notices, standards etc.) are observed and discharged to protect BCEGI’s position and entitlements under contract or with insurances etc.
  • Delivering projects in accordance with corporate governance
  • In conjunction with key internal ‘partners’ (e.g. Group Risk, Legal, Pre-Contract, Supply Chain, Insurance), ensuring that project/area contractual and insurance issues, including disputes and claims are resolved or properly communicated to protect and further the Company’s interests and relationships

Functional Management:

  • Delivering effective management information on commercial activity across the project to the Commercial Manager
  • Providing a commercial appraisal of project for external audit purposes
  • Mentoring and managing junior staff
  • Timely and accurately applications for payment compliant with the contract, Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 if appropriate
  • Cash Management
  • Maintaining Risk Management processes and procedures
  • Ensuring proper and timely notification of contract or insurance events
  • Preparing accurate and prudent cost /value analysis
  • Management, interim and final account agreement of sub-contracts
  • Keeping good quality and accurate records

 

Requirements:

  • Ideally, the candidate will have around 8 years post graduate experience and be looking for more responsibility on a large-scale project
  • CSCS card required
  • Member of relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification is desirable, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA
  • Good working knowledge of Housing Grants Construction & Regeneration Act 1996 will be an advantage
  • JCT Contract experience preferable
