The Role

BCEGI UK has an exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our expanding business in Manchester.

Duties/responsibilities:

With a flexible approach to supporting all BCEGI activities, preferably but not limited to:

  • Engineering duties, accurate setting out of site activities including, drainage, piling, groundworks, concrete and steel frame structures, also including additional work packages which require engineering requirements
  • Working to required specifications and drawings
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Checking sub contract works
  • Site supervision
  • Quality control
  • Design co-ordination on work packages
  • Ensuring company health & safety procedures are adhered to
  • Ensuring all work is conducted safely and in compliance with current company policies; ensuring high productivity and efficiency through effective control and utilisation of the contract workforce and its equipment; operating within the appropriate Safety Management systems
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and that all operational staff have the appropriate competencies and authorisations to undertake works
  • Responsible for KPI’s within their control
  • Responsible for monitoring performance to ensure that all objectives are met and any problems are anticipated and resolved
  • Leading by example and, in conjunction with the SHEQ team, ensure a proactive safety culture that leads to zero incidents and accidents at all levels of operations
  • Undertake site visits to ensure work is being undertaken in compliance with best practice and all policies and procedures, providing technical advice and guidance where necessary
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation related to work and produced by the contract, is completed in a timely, comprehensive and correct manner
  • Encourage and integrate innovation and cost effective working methods
  • Assist in accident investigations as requested

  Requirements:

  • Knowledge of general construction management duties
  • Health and Safety knowledge
  • At least 12 months’ experience in a project role
  • Demonstrable team player with ability to work closely with both clients and colleagues to deliver results
  • Proven ability to adapt flexibly
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Quick to develop new skills and eager to contribute towards the business’ success and future growth
  • Familiarity with project documentation and project management terminology
  • Good IT skills and a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Package
  • Resilient and driven to achieve personal and organisational targets
  • Self-confident, self-disciplined, with excellent prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and controlled under pressure
  • Encourage and support people in the team, sharing knowledge and best practice
  • Ability to build relationships across functions, internally and externally
  • The ability to work cross-functionally, with a collaborative and dynamic approach
  • New build experience over £25m desirable
  • CSCS card required
  • Member of relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification is desirable, but not essential
