Working Safely During COVID-19

The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, supply chain partners, clients and our communities is our number one priority. This has been at the forefront of what we have done and what we will continue to do during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In response to COVID-19, we have put in place a range of measures across our operations to best protect our people, sub-contractors, residents and customers as well as the communities in which we operate.

We are continuously monitoring the situation both nationally and internationally with respect to COVID-19 to be able to respond as quickly and as effectively as possible to what are frequently changing circumstances. Our team across the group work tirelessly to deliver vital infrastructure and services to communities.

To help keep people working on our construction sites safe and healthy, we have increased the frequency and intensity of our cleaning procedures. We have also greatly heightened our communication on best practice hygiene and ways to minimise the risk of infection across our work sites, project offices and remote offices.

Our sites remain operational where we are able to appropriately implement BCEGI COVID-19 Management Standards which are fully aligned with the latest UK Government guidelines to ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of all those who work for and with us.

Key points from the Management Standards

● Employers and workers should work together to comply with social distancing guidelines.
● Employees should work from home where possible. Project managers and line managers should review staff working on site and ensure working from home is occurring where possible.
● Remote meetings to be arranged in preference to meetings in person. Where meetings in person are absolutely essential, 2m (or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) social distancing to be maintained throughout.
● Social distancing at work: maintain 2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable, at all times.
● Cleaning the workplace: make sure there are adequate disposal arrangements for cleaning products and facilities are well ventilated.
● Personal protective equipment (PPE) and face coverings: there is growing evidence to support the wearing of face coverings in an enclosed public space where there are people you do not normally meet.

● COVID19 Risk Assessments are completed and written specifically for each work activity.
● Weekly Social Distancing Inspections based on live site environments to ensure compliance with the company’s COVID-19 management standard.
● Arrangements to reduce transmission so we know what to do if anyone goes into isolation, and how we protect and support our employees without impacting business operations.
