BCEGI UK has been an equity and construction partner in the £1 billion Airport City project at Manchester Airport since 2013. The development will deliver 5 million sq ft of offices, hotels, advanced manufacturing, logistics facilities, hybrid and ancillary retail space. Working alongside Manchester Airports Group and The Greater Manchester Pension Fund, we are instrumental in offering development management advice on a pre-construction basis, on what is one of the biggest joint venture investments in the UK.

The landmark pedestrian and cycle bridge project helps deliver a sustainable connection from the Airport City Manchester site directly to rail, bus and tram links, as well as providing direct access for pedestrians and cyclists travelling to and from Wythenshawe and the surrounding area.
Designed by Manchester architects 5Plus and structurally designed by RoC Consulting, the 132m long structure features 21,000 decorative perforations along its sides, providing visibility of the carriageway below and casting intricate patterns of light onto the deck.
The brand new 81m long central section of the bridge which spans across the motorway and weighs over 470 tons, was rolled into position overnight by a specialised team using two, 120 tonne, 40 axle self-propelled modular transporters.
This latest vital piece of infrastructure was fabricated by Cleveland Bridge UK, which, working closely with BCEGI, was also responsible for undertaking the complex 12-hour installation.
Value – £6m
